Grande Colonial Hotel La Jolla

THE GRANDE COLONIAL HOTEL. JEWEL OF LA JOLLA

Our West Coast Tour 2018 started from sunny and always smiling state of California and its most southern city San Diego. But this time instead of exploring the urban environment and suburbs, we decided to move directly to its most beautiful beacon, which is adored by most of the tourists and visitors, La Jolla. And for our stay we choose to stay at the true jewel, the Grande Colonial La Jolla, that has been welcoming guests to La Jolla since early 1913!{Read more about style blogger Tanya Litkovska exploring La Jolla beach in Foberini vyshyvanka dress}

GRANDE COLONIAL LA JOLLA

We always had a great experiences with the boutique style hotels. The level of unique details, self expression and some unique character, inherent to each particular boutique hotel that is what them stand alone properties and differ from the rest. With Grande Colonial La Jolla is definitely no exception as well! Known to be the La Jolla’s oldest original hotel, this amazing property is super conveniently located in the very heart of La Jolla village. No matter what your interests are, the hotel is close to literally everything.

The unique interior is another aspect I want to draw your attention to. The sophisticated and unmistaken style gives Grande Colonial La Jolla a true classic feel. The fine architectural details such as original Georgian style arches, original cast plaster crown moldings, lead glass windows and intricate hand-stenciled ceilings all play their wining game of personalization and detailing. From the contemporary part, I liked a very (and I mean VERY) high speed internet which was very useful. Also those of you who drives electric vehicles will be pleased to know that hotel has two Electric Vehicle Charging Stations available. Bottom line The Grande Colonial La Jolla is a nice place to stay visiting La Jolla. Convenience in a California coastal lifestyle way!

BEAUTIFUL LA JOLLA VILLAGE

Usually referred as southern California’s most beautiful coastal village, La Jolla is one of the most popular beach destinations in all California. From rugged and curving coastline along the beautiful Pacific Ocean to windy rails with lots of sea lions and goofy pelicans, to upscale seaside living with magnificent views and mediterranean cuisine restaurants. Great and smart mix form both worlds, right! Its no wonder La Jolla is a number one spot everybody wants to see and visit. We enjoyed a beach walk and got some nice pics of sea lions enjoying and posing to photographers. Evening sunsets are also one thing you have to see yourself while visit. I can tell for sure that West Coast sunsets are different, more dramatic if you wish, has more feel.. La Jolla is very diverse and can deliver colorful and memorable emotions making you want return there again.

OUTFIT DETAILS: FOBERINI VYSHYVANKA

It’s always fun to style Foberini embroidered shirts and dresses! I truly love to play with colors and textures in my outfits, and each Foberini vyshyvanka gives me the necessary basis for a next creative look. What I do love the most in this tunic is its color. Unique “ocher” color that keeps to be one of the most fashionable shades over several seasons in a row. Made in Ukraine from finest natural linen, “Zoryana” tunic is decorated with authentic black/white embroidery that is typical for Lviv region (western part of Ukraine). Ukrainian traditions say that rose motive that is used for “Zoryana” ornament is a symbol of the Sun, stars, beauty and love. Three colors that were used for crafting my Foberini tunic symbolize golden Sun and drops of fresh honey (yellow), the fertility of the Earth (black) and purity (white). Here I styled Foberini tunic as a shirt, by layering leather skirt. But it also can be worn belted and tightened sleeves (see the picture with ‘sailor and nurse’ below).

P.S.: On our way to La Jolla, we stopped in San Diego to take a short walk and see something interesting. Instead of taking photos of Gas Lamp District and sitting with greasy burger in hand in one of a thousand fast food places we headed to the marina to see the returned statue of a sailor kisses a nurse, called Unconditional Surrender. This 25 feet controversial creation  stands right near the USS Midway aircraft carrier, that is now a museum.
