CITY OF HARRISBURG and WESTWYND FARM INN
This is our second time when we’re in Pennsylvania during our East Coast Tour 2017, first one was when we’ve visited Pittsburg on our way up North to Canada. Now, we wanted to see and feel the rural part of this great colonial state and its beauties. For that purpose we chose to visit the state capital, city of Harrisburg. It has very picturesque surroundings and shares great natural and both industrial & cultural heritage. Last but not least our accommodation option this time was amazing Westwynd Farm Inn, picturesque and secluded retreat place for those who willing to enjoy glass of wine, watch horses and just relax.
HARRISBURG and MY MEMORIES
Pennsylvania welcomed us with beautiful sunny day. We arrived to Harrisburg at noon and considered our 4! hours driving time from Hartford, Connecticut a big achievement! Judge for yourself, it’s almost 300 miles ) Our Harrisburg city tour started from State Capitol Complex which is a true place of art. We’ve read that even President Theodore Roosevelt once said, “It’s the handsomest building I ever seen”. The city itself is small, but very cosy and walkable.
Harrisburg has two banks and is separated by the Susquehanna River. While walking and observing the streets, we crossed the bridge and reached the other bank, where have found unbelievable spot with breathtaking city views and hidden passage to railroad. My fav is the railroad.. Somehow they both reminded me of Kiev, which also has two banks and Dnieper River, but just 10 times bigger ) Bottom line, Harrisburg is a nice city to visit and spend the day, very calm and relaxing experience.
WESTWYND FARM INN, JOHN LENNON and PEACE
Rural luxury. That’s the exact words I would like to start my story with about Westwynd Farm Inn. Our weekend was full of colors, smell of flowers, birds singing and mostly relaxing enjoyment. Westwynd Farm Inn conveniently located on a heart of rural Pennsylvania, close to Amish Country and local wineries. The farm is a huge 32-acre property with a nice 11 guest room main building (most rooms have jacuzzi and fireplace). Surrounding beauties are stunning and we actually spent one full day just wandering around, taking pictures and listening for John Lennon’s “imagination”. Westwynd Farm Inn has a great food selection as well, no matter your preferences are, I bet they have everything for your taste! Bottom line, great place for your next weekend retreat and peaceful relaxation.
As always, Mr. Lemono became friends with one of the Westwynd Farm Inn horses and we spent so much time outside, because he didn’t want to go home. And we can not blame him, Westwynd Farm Inn and this part of Pennsylvania State itself is a great place to see and feel!
