BEST RETREAT IN NOVA SCOTIA
Once in awhile each of us needs to relax and clean head and mind from all today’s stress and problems. And trust me, no pills or your fav glass of red will not be able to deliver you that level of original and pure relaxation level as nature. Especially beautiful nature of Nova Scotia. Choosing our best retreat in Nova Scotia, we thought about proximity to the ocean, about fresh air, about quiet and secluded places that we would enjoy being at. We got lucky to find it all and even more at the Oceanstone Resort.
OUR COTTAGE AT OCEANSTONE RESORT
Our roomy wooden cottage was very cozy and had all the amenities for the great getaway experience. Fireplace, bright kitchen, with great views and private passage to the ocean quickly makes Oceanstone Resort our favorite destination. Each cottage has its own decor. Our, Craws Nest, felt like home from the first minute, thank to sweet greeting that was waiting for us on table. Love such little extra touches, such things makes your stay memorable! All rooms had ocean view from their windows and the second floor was our favorite spot, because of the open balcony that gave us a chance to enjoy beautiful sunsets. Later evening, we set up a fire in our fire pit on the edge of the rocks by the ocean and finished our first day with a grass of red. While spending the rest of the day and talking about our future travel we both already agreed the have to return here, because this place just makes you happy. Oceanstone Resort is that kinda place.
Next day we decided to explore the surrounding area and drove to the Peggy’s Cove. Peggy’s Cove is the Coastal Region on Nova Scotia’s Bluenose Coast and is usually called a Mother Nature’s Playground. The main attraction is of course the Peggy’s Point Lighthouse. It’s Nova Scotia’s of the most well-know lighthouse, built in 1915. Peggy’s Point Lighthouse is visible from almost every angle of Peggy’s Cove and is surrounded by cliffs and rocks from one side and a small fisherman’s village from another. The natural beauty of this area is just stunning and we’ve decided to spent all day till the sunset there, watching the waves and jumping from one huge rock to another, trying to find the best spot for the sunset.
This part is my favorite. Seafood heaven is my variation of calling Nova Scotia thanks to its resources. My husband made a great surprise for me, when found a local fisherman’s store near the Oceanstone Resort. The freshest possible morning catch had available oysters, mussels and huge, almost 2 kilos lobsters. I’ve read previously that Nova Scotia is usually referred as a Canada’s cornucopia, and not without a reason! Such a great variety of local harvest and seafood is just astonishing! We done everything in the most natural way possible – oysters raw, mussels grill, lobster steamed in ocean’s salty water with herbs, roots and spices. After this seafood heaven experience I honestly don’t know how to buy/order seafood in other places, the bar is set very high!
Our travel companion became very sentimental, emotional and touchy. He told us that part of his heart will always be with Nova Scotia from now on. And Oceanstone Resort, with its amazing amenities, pure nature location, cosy accommodations and surrounding attracting is just one more proof to that.
